Driver Profile

Jeremy began racing the way most racers do. He went to the track to watch his favorite drivers on the weekends, always dreaming of being the next driver introduced on the PA system. From watching his dad drive race cars he made working on cars a reality in 1999. It was then that he received his start by helping Scotty Neitzel out on his Interstate Racing Association (IRA) 410 sprint car. He took the next seven years learning the ins and outs of a sprint car, including working at R & H Enterprises repairing other cars. These invaluable lessons taught Jeremy how to save equipment and how each part works with another. Jeremy’s real exposure to teamwork culminated when Scotty Neitzel’s team earned their first championship in 2004. In 2005, he learned that keeping a team together and working toward one goal would allow them to earn a second IRA championship. Two years later in 2007, Jeremy took what he learned and hit the road on a limited schedule. 2008 is where Sherm’s, Jeremy’s nickname, racing career really begins. Taking on a forty race schedule and the country’s fourth longest season in a sprint car is something racers usually don’t try in their first year. To set out with the goal of being rookie of the year takes a lot of determination and drive. He ended up winning rookie of the year at EWSC, and narrowly missed the Midwest Sprintcar Association (MSA) rookie of the year by a mere seven points. The new 5J team ended up finishing 10th in MSA points, and 10th in EWSC points. 2009 was another great year with Jeremy collecting MSA's most improved driver award, voted on by his peers, and finished fifth in points. He was able to couple that with a fifth in EWSC points as well. Very pleased with the results of the previous two years, 2010 would be a trying year. Jeremy is quick to recognize that he could not have been as successful as he was without the help and guidance from two-time IRA champion, Scotty Neitzel, Rick Lemanski, and Harry Neitzel of R & H Enterprises. They have been there every step of the way to offer guidance and advice to help make him more successful. Jeremy keeps his welding and fabricating skills current working as a welder for Apache Stainless Welding and Fabricating. 2011 was a great year for Jeremy. With five wins, he finished third in points with the ultra-competitive Midwest Sprintcar Association. 2012 can be summed up in one word, CHAMPIONSHIP. With one win in 2012, over ten second place finishes, 22 top five’s and 27 top ten finishes in 31 races shows that Jeremy put his car in winning position every night. Winning the championship in the MSA was a lifelong dream of Jeremy’s. He not only won the Midwest Sprintcar Championship (MSA) championship but also won the Plymouth Dirt Track Racing (PDTR) championship. The PDTR championship was won without winning a race, again proving consistency was a huge key. During 2012 Jeremy would also begin the transition to the Outlaw 410 sprint cars by running six IRA 410 outlaw shows and was able to finish in the top ten five nights with three inside the top five. 2013 brought on new challenges and new goals. Jeremy stepped up and won IRA 410 Outlaw Series Rookie of the Year and second in points. Coupled with two feature wins and a Wilmot 410 track championship, 2013 was a great year.

2014, Jeremy will compete for the coveted IRA Championship along with racing several times at Knoxville IA. Another dream will come true during 2014 when Jeremy will race the Knoxville Nationals early August and end the year at the World Finals in Charlotte in Early November.
