WEST FARGO, ND (6-17-06)  Donny Schatz made it two in a row at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND on his homecoming weekend.  Schatz was locked into the event by winning Friday’s preliminary feature.  The top 4 were locked in from the previous night which also included Tyler Walker, Joey Saldana, and Craig Dollansky.

36 cars were on hand to take part in the “Duel in the Dakotas” weekend brought to you by SLS Promotions.  All Star contenders included Greg Wilson, Danny Smith, Brock Mayes, Paul May, Brandon Martin, Chad Blonde, and James Mosher.  The World of Outlaws Mean 15 were all on hand for this co-sanctioned event as well as several drivers from the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association to make for another great show for the fans.

Schatz jumped out to the lead on the start and never looked back, leading all 30 laps of the $12,000 to win event.  Schatz maneuvered his way through lapped traffic masterfully as he distanced himself from the challengers and kept the hometown crowd on their feet.

“To get in victory lane here at home, there is nothing more exciting,” said Schatz. “We fell a little short last year and tried to make up what we could this year. We raced today with heavy hearts. The loss of Fred Brownfield was a shock to the racing world. Life has to go on for us, and we send out sympathies to his family.”

The A-main started with the usual 4-abreast salute to the fans as they fell into the “missing man” formation in honor of Mr. Brownfield.  There was also a moment of silence after qualifying in honor of the respected track promoter and NST President.

Walker and Saldana battled wildly for the runner up spot, trading the position several times throughout the race.  Walker eventually held down the position with Saldana finishing third.

Further back it was All Star points leader Greg Wilson finishing 15^th for the second night in a row.  Greg had a great qualifying run in 6^th place and then finished 9^th in the Dash putting him inside of row 5 to start the main event.

The 18^th through 21^st spots were all held by All Star contenders.  Danny Smith, Brock Mayes, Chad Blonde, and James Mosher battled each other for season points trying to better position themselves for the upcoming Ohio Speedweek run.

Paul May, who spun in his heat and missed the transfer by one spot, was forced to run the B-main where he again missed the transfer by one spot ending his night.  Brandon Martin, who suffered mechanical problems in Friday’s A-main was not able to transfer from the B as he finished 8^th.

Next up for the All Stars is Friday June 23^rd at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA and then on to K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, OH on Saturday June 24^th.  From there the series dives right into Ohio Sprint Speedweek on June 25^th at Attica, June 26^th at Wayne County, June 27^th at Muskingum County, June 28^th at Sharon, June 29^th at Fremont, June 30^th at Limaland, and July 1^st at Eldora.
