CAMARGO, IL (5-7-06) – by Bryan Autullo – The points chase is beginning to heat up among the All Star Circuit of Champions as we approach the busy summer months. June and July are packed full of All Star points races and things could begin to change very rapidly. Greg Wilson has maintained his lead throughout the young season, but Brock Mayes and Chad Blonde are closing in fast. Wilson, who picked up a win at Attica Raceway on his night off last Friday, came into Fremont with a mission – to win the race and keep his points lead. An unfortunate incident with lapped traffic while he was leading the A-main sent him to restart from the tail and Mayes and Blonde picked up a few points on the leader.
Dean Jacobs won the race, but back through the pack the points battles were heating up. Only 12 points now separates 2nd place Mayes and 3rd place Blonde. Mayes is only 23 points outside of Wilson’s 1st place total. Paul May held onto 4th place this week as Butch Schroeder picked up one spot moving ahead of Ruble for 5th place. Dale Blaney also moved up a spot to 8th , Tim Hunter moved into the 10th position and Danny Smith moved up to 11th place this week. Chad Blonde, who picked up the feature win at Butler Speedway on his night off on Friday, still leads the Rookie of the Year points as Brandon Martin and James Mosher try to close the gap. Brandon is in 2nd place by one point over Mosher. The All Star series will be heading to KC Raceway on Saturday May 13th for the next shootout in the Showdown Series between the All Stars and the World of Outlaws.
