CAMARGO, IL (4-23-06) – By Bryan Autullo – All Star veteran Greg “Wild Man” Wilson has retained the All Star Circuit of Champions season points lead after a fierce battle at Eldora Speedway this past weekend. Wilson’s car owner, Verl Warnimont, leads the Owner Points with his All Star Plumbing & Heating sponsored #w20. Friday night’s co-sanctioned event with the World of Outlaws was rained out at Lawrenceburg Speedway and has been rescheduled for July 7th. Saturday had the appearance of a co-sanctioned event as many of the Outlaws made the short trip from Southern Indiana up to Western Ohio’s Eldora Speedway. The All Stars had their work cut out for them battling for season championship points amongst themselves as they fought for track position against the Outlaw teams. All but one All Star team made the A-main making the mix of cars in the main event an even 50/50. Twelve All Star teams and twelve outsiders made up the starting grid. It was Mean 15 member Jac Haudenschild who would win the event with several All Star teams scattered throughout the Top 15.
The Rookie of the Year chase is starting to heat up as Brandon Martin and James Mosher are tied for second place with 6 points each behind Chad Blonde’s 13 points. Blonde has had an exceptional start to the 2006 season, but the other contenders have begun to find their comfort level with the traveling series and may soon start to put some pressure on the leader. Greg Wilson also leads the Haulmark Dash points chase. New in 2006, points will be kept separately and will be tallied throughout the season for the Haulmark Dash points fund to be paid to the Top 6 drivers at the end of the season. Points for the Dash will be awarded the same as in years past and will also count toward the Series Championship points. The All Star series will be off this coming weekend and will be back in action at Fremont Speedway on Saturday May 6th.
