CAMARGO, IL (8-10-06) – The All Star Circuit of Champions are set to invade Mayetta, Kansas on their way back from the 46th Annual Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, IA. The Nationals wrap up on Saturday August 12th and the All Stars will have a day off to prepare for more sanctioned points racing at Thunderhill Speedway. Thunderhill Speedway is a high banked, wide, 4/10 mile oval speedway located 14 miles north of Topeka on HWY. 75, and two miles west on 142nd rd. Randy Hanagan set a blistering track record of 12.34 seconds when the All Stars visited Thunderhill in 2005, making the speedway one of the fastest 4/10 mile ovals in the country. 2005 All Star Rookie of the Year, Cody Geldart from Ontario, Canada, won the main event last year. In victory lane he stated, "This was awesome, I love this track. I love the banking. The car was fast all night."
This year, Rookie contenders Chad Blonde, Brandon Martin, and James Mosher will be seeking their first All Star win. Meanwhile, Greg Wilson and Brock Mayes are set to battle for the season points lead going into the final stretch of the 2006 season. The gates will open at 4pm, hot laps will begin at 7 pm, and time trials will begin at 7:30. Thunderhill's USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Factory Stocks will join the All Stars as a support class for the event. The last day to purchase advance tickets for this event will be August 13. Advance tickets can purchased for $17 at participating O'Reilly Auto Parts Locations across Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Oklahoma. Tickets the day of the race will be $22 at the gate for adults and $8 for kids ages 7-13. Children six and under will be admitted free with a paid adult.
