ROSSBURG, OH (7-1-06) – When asked last Sunday night at Attica if he had another Speedweek Championship left in him, Dale Blaney responded by saying, “We’ll see come Saturday night.” Going into the final Speedweek race at Eldora Speedway, Blaney had a 2 point lead over Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and a 12 point lead over Greg Wilson. At the end of the night, Blaney did in fact add one more Speedweek title to his resume. “I have to give the credit to the guys on my crew and (owner) George Fisher,” said Blaney from victory lane. “They gave me a really good car all week long with a good motor. I’m just the guy who is lucky enough to be sitting in this thing driving it.” Australian visitor Troy Little set quick time in Huggins Cams qualifying at his first ever visit to the speedway. He then turned in a fifth place finish behind Blaney, Wilson, Ed Lynch Jr., and Butch Schroeder. |

LIMA, OH (6-30-06) – With 59 sprint cars signed into the pits at the beautiful Limaland facility in Western Ohio, Night #6 of Ohio Sprint Speedweek was bustling with activity. The EFI-NRA 360 sprints showed up to challenge the All Stars on “Ohio’s ¼ Mile Thunder” high banked bullring . The racing was intense all night long and the large crowd was on the edge of their seats as the kid from Mississippi sliced and diced his way to another Speedweek win.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. started on the outside of the front row by virtue of a great qualifying run and transferring from his heat race directly to the A-main. Phil Gressman was on the pole, but when the green flag dropped Stenhouse never looked back.
Gressman stayed on his rear bumper as Byron Reed lurked in third. The battle for fourth was intense with Greg Wilson rocketing around Rob Chaney and Dale Blaney to set his sights on Reed. Reed battled Gressman for the second position as they both kept Stenhouse in sight. |

Mississippi Teen Tames The Track That Action Built |

FREMONT, OH (6-29-06) - The history and tradition of Ohio Sprint Speedweek is synonymous with Fremont Speedway’s long list of All Star feature winners over the past few decades at “The track that action built”. Add to that list a kid from Olive Branch, MS who was told that Attica and Fremont would be the two toughest tracks to tame during the week of events. He wasn’t intimidated by the two tracks he’d never seen before and went out and won at both as he also picked up the Speedweek opener win last Sunday.
"I'm going to have to come back and race in Ohio more often,” said Stenhouse in victory lane. “I have to thank Pete Grove and Premiere Pallets for helping to get us to Speedweek and Jack Elam and J&J Chassis for giving us such a great race car. We hired Andy Potter (from Fremont) to wrench on this car this week and he just had this thing so good. I could drive it anywhere to get around lapped traffic." |

Tall Cool One Shoots Down Apollo Rocket |
|
Tuesday, 27 June 2006 |

ZANESVILLE, OH (6-27-06) Ohio Sprint Speedweek took a dip into Southeastern Ohio on Night #3 to Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville. 38 cars signed into the pits to take part in the original Speedweek started in Ohio in 1983. After an unfortunate cancellation of Night #2 at Wayne County Speedway due to a power outage from severe storms, the drivers were itching to get back to the intense action of Speedweek and the fans filled the stands to watch it all unfold. Dale Blaney started off the evening by setting a new track record in Huggins Cams Qualifying, shattering the old mark set by Joey Saldana in 1999. The George Fisher owned #2 was fast right out of the gate. It was a sign of things to come. Ed Lynch Jr. looked to be unbeatable for 38 laps, but The Tall Cool One chased down the Apollo Rocket in lapped traffic like a heat seeking missile as the fans were kept on the edge of their seats throughout the A-main. Blaney put on a show for them as he came from his starting position outside of row 3 to take the checkered flag in the 40 lap event. |

ATTICA, OH (6-25-06) The tradition of Ohio Sprint Speedweek continued at Attica Raceway Park with a big car count, a large crowd, exciting racing, and surprise visitors that always make things interesting for the week of events. To add to the aura and excitement of Speedweek, this night also included a dominating performance by a young hot shoe they call “Little Ricky” who after last night's performance can call Attica Raceway Park "Sten's House".
At just 18 years of age, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. put on a masterful performance to top the 47 car field that included many of the All Stars, some National Sprint Tour drivers, and the always tough Ohio locals. The native of Olive Branch, MS has the benefit of Andy Potter’s expert knowledge turning wrenches for the week and he had the car set up to run anywhere on the speedway. |
