Eldora Washed Out; Wilson Wins Championship
Sunday, 01 October 2006

ROSSBURG, OH (9-30-06) – The All Star Circuit of Champions visited Eldora Speedway for the final time in 2006 only to have the season finale washed out by several showers that passed through the area.  Heavy rains fell in the late afternoon just after the pit gates were opened.  It took several hours to get the track back into shape and the Eldora crew did a masterful job in keeping the racing surface from getting away from them.  A few more brief showers fell, but things were still scheduled to go on as planned.

Just after 7:30 pm the first set of hot laps rolled onto the track.  At the same time, the blackest of clouds rolled over the speedway from the West with heavy rain visible to the North.  Two sessions of hot laps were completed before the rain started to fall once again.  This time it fell for quite some time and it was eventually decided that it would take several more hours to get the track back to racing condition.  With the full slate of events yet to be run it was decided the event would be canceled.  At 8:30 pm the announcement was made and all fans in attendance received a full refund at the gate.  The cancellation fittingly brought to a close a season plagued by rain outs with this being the 11th.  The All Stars appreciate the hard work and effort put in by the Eldora staff and track crew to get this one in, but Mother Nature had the final word on the 2006 All Star season.

Dollansky Finds Victory Through the Fog
Monday, 25 September 2006

ImageKOKOMO, IN (9-24-06) – The All Star Circuit of Champions took on the World of Outlaws for the final time in 2006 at Kokomo Speedway.  47 winged 410 sprint cars signed in to do battle on the tight Central Indiana bullring.  As the fog rolled in just before the A-main it looked like things might get a little hectic as you could not see the backstretch from the main grand stands.  A fireworks display during the 4-wide salute made visibility even worse and a few extra parade laps were needed to clear the air.

When the green flag dropped it was mayhem on dirt as 24 cars flew around the fast ¼ mile where the track record was shattered several times earlier in the night.  The 40 lap A-main went non-stop without a caution, making it a scoring nightmare trying to keep pace with the cars as they sliced and diced with traffic heavy all the way around the speedway.

Blonde Thunders to First All Star Victory
Tuesday, 15 August 2006

MAYETTA, KS (8-14-06) –  The All Star Circuit of Champions visited Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, KS in 2005 with a first time All Star  feature winner – Cody Geldart – who then went on to win the All Star Rookie of the Year title.  In 2006, it would appear that history is about to repeat itself.  Chad Blonde, who has a commanding lead in the Rookie of the Year points, chalked up his first ever All Star victory in Kansas, much like his predecessor Geldart.  With only a few races left on the All Star schedule, he is poised to collect the Rookie of the Year award as well if he can hold off Brandon Martin’s charge.

Greg Wilson, who leads the All Star season points, set quick time atop the 19 car field that made the tow to Kansas on a Monday night after the Knoxville Nationals long week of events.  A great crowd came out to see the All Stars in their only appearance in the Plains States in 2006 and it was announced that the All Stars will return to Thunderhill Speedway again in 2007.

Brownsburg Bullet Back in Victory Lane
Saturday, 05 August 2006

ROSSBURG, OH (8-4-06) – The All Star Circuit of Champions took on the World of Outlaws once again at the high banks of Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH on Friday evening.  The latest event in the showdown series between the two traveling groups saw Joey Saldana take the lead from Donny Schatz with just two laps to go to net Saldana his 2nd consecutive victory at Eldora.

"I never tried to run in the middle because usually when I do that, I lose my right rear tire," Saldana said. "The longer the race got, I knew he (Schatz) would get slower because he was not running against the fence in turns three and four. That's where I was gaining so much momentum on top. He was running so low going into (turn) three that it was scrubbing speed. I knew sooner or later I could get him. It was just getting to a lapped car and have him have to move his car. It happened with only a couple laps to go."

Dollansky Wins Butler; Blonde Charges to Front
Thursday, 03 August 2006

(Re-printed with permission from DIRT Motorsports)

By Tony Veneziano

Craig Dollansky had two fierce competitors chasing him on Wednesday night. One was Terry McCarl who used a late race charge to keep him in his sight. The other was a fast approaching storm. In the end, Dollansky outran both and picked up a $10,000 pay day in the process. McCarl settled for the runner-up position, and the storm began to pelt the track with rain just seconds after the checkered flag flew on the race.

For Dollansky, it was his fourth win this season as he rolled into the RacinSoles Victory Lane at Butler Speedway after the World of Outlaws Sprint Series took on the All Star Circuit of Champions.

The win was his first this season on a 3/8-mile oval. Dollansky drove the Karavan Trailers Maxim to victory twice this year at the half-mile Eldora Speedway and once at the quarter-mile Tri-State (Ind.) Speedway.

Terry McCarl finished second in the Big Game Treestands Eagle with Chad Blonde third TLC Auto Collision Maxim, marking the best finish of his career in a World of Outlaws event. Dale Blaney in the George Fisher Racing Maxim and Daryn Pittman in the Titan Garages & Carports Maxim rounded out the top five.
