All Stars Invade Posse Country: Williams Grove Speedway

Rahmer on a Rail; Dominates Williams Grove Field

MECHANICSBURG, PA (6-13-08) by Bryan Autullo – All Star PR Director

The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions made another pilgrimage to the home of the PA Posse – Williams Grove Speedway - on a hot, humid night to take on some of the best local competition in the country.  All Star points leader Lance Dewease might have been the most comfortable All Star driver on the tour being that he is also one of the most successful central PA drivers in history.  Hannagan, Wilson, McMahan, and the rest of the All Stars would try to gain valuable points on the leader as he showed them how to get around one of the most storied speedways in the country.

The A-main redraw for the Top 6 starting positions put Dewease on the front row alongside another Posse legend, Fast Freddie Rahmer.  Rahmer would get the jump on the initial start and never looked back as the race went green to checkers with Rahmer setting a blistering pace.  Dewease lost sight of the leader at the midpoint and had his hands full with Cody Darrah nipping at his heels.

Darrah got around Dewease as Rahmer checked out and put seven lapped cars and a straightaway between him and second place, showing once again why he is one of the winningest drivers in the sport.  He went on to take the checkers on lap 30 with Darrah second followed by Dewease, Todd Shaffer, and Keith Kauffman rounding out the Top 5.

Stevie Smith and Brian Montieth put on a show for the fans coming from the back of the pack to bring home respectable finishes.  Smith started 14th and crossed the finish line 6th.  Monteith started 22nd and drove all the way up to 9th in what looked to be the fastest car on the track as the race went on.

Cody Darrah was the Kistler Engines Fast Qualifier for the night with a time of 17.030.  Darrah has been a stand out in Central PA so far this season and has continued to impress with his performance at such a young age.

Heats for were won by Dale Blaney, Cory Haas, Mark Smith, and Ryan Bohlke.  Brian Leppo won the B-main.  The All Star Dash was won by Dale Blaney.

OReilly All Star Circuit of Champions Set to Visit Central PA
ImageCAMARGO, IL (6-9-08) by Bryan Autullo, All Star PR Director

The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions will return to Central PA again this week for a 3 day swing through Posse country to face some of the toughest local competition in the country.  One of the toughest, Lance Dewease, is leading the All Star points chase and is looking to use his home turf to put some distance between him and the rest of the traveling group before heading into Ohio Speedweek at the end of June.

The first of the three stops will be at the world famous Williams Grove Speedway on Friday June 13th where the speeds are fast, the fans are frenzied, and the competition is fierce.  Nowhere else in the country will you find the local drivers as loved and the invaders hated as much as at “The Grove” making it one of the tracks each season where a good finish is coveted by any outsider who visits there.  Posse driver Mike Erdley picked up the All Star win in 2007.

On Saturday June 14th, the cars and stars will travel to Lincoln Speedway where the All Stars and Posse will do battle for round two of the weekend’s events.  Fred Rahmer picked up the win the last time the All Stars visited the speedway, marking his 151st victory at the track and setting off a celebration of family, friends, and fans that was nothing short of spectacular.

The series will wrap things up with a stop at “The Big Track” on Sunday June 15th in Clearfield, PA.  This will be the first visit to Central PA Speedway for the All Stars and hopefully several of the Central PA teams will follow and join in for a shot at the All Star loot.  The event was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but it was moved to Sunday to help reduce travel expenses for the teams.

Buckeye State Gears Up for Ohio Speedweek - The Countdown Begins
CAMARGO, IL (6-4-08) by Bryan Autullo – All Star PR Director

The 2008 UNOH Ohio Sprint Speedweek is fast approaching and later this month, winged 410 sprint cars will converge on the Buckeye State to extend a tradition that began in 1983. Ohio Speedweek has always been one of the premier weeks on the All Star schedule and is also one of the most prestigious weeks of sprint car racing in the United States. The event is rich in tradition and history and another chapter will be added starting on June 22nd at Attica Raceway Park.

The deadline for pre-registration for points fund and bonus money has been extended through June 15th due to the lateness of the advertising for these events. Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH had announced early this season that they have closed for the season, and there was some indecision as to where the Monday night event would be held. Since that time an agreement has been reached with the facility to open the gates one more time this season to host the 2008 Ohio Speedweek event.

Each year, nearly 100 drivers compete over the seven nights of dirt track mayhem with one driver emerging as the Ohio Speedweek Champion. The crews call it “hell week” and many rarely find time to sleep until the week is over. It is a grueling week for teams and drivers, but for the fans it is one of the best values in sprint car racing. With a shaky economy and high fuel prices, an effort was made to ease the travel distances between each event by not having to criss-crossing the state multiple times.

For more information on Ohio Speedweek, please visit www.ohiospeedweek.com to view the schedule, driver pre-entry list, track contact information, and stats and stories. The All Star web site can be found at www.allstarsprint.com for more info on the series.

All Stars Move Central PA Speedway Date to Sunday June 15th
ImageIn an effort to relieve teams of additional travel expenses, an agreement has been made between the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions and Central PA Speedway to move the race scheduled for Wednesday June 11^th to Sunday June 15th .

The event will now cap off a powerful weekend of Pennsylvania racing for “America’s Series.”  Friday night, June 13th the All Stars will kick off the PA swing at the "Home of the Posse" - Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.  On Saturday June 14th , historical Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, PA will play host to the All Stars once again.  Then on Sunday the series will wrap things up with a trip to "The Big Track" - Central PA Speedway in Clearfield, PA.

For additional information, including past results and the all-important Championship points battle, log onto www.allstarsprint.com.  Lance Dewease leads the charge back into PA with an obvious home field advantage as he looks to increase his points lead while Dale Blaney, Randy Hannagan, Greg Wilson, Paul McMahan, Brandon Martin, Brock Mayes, Ryan Myers, and Lee Stark try to chase him down.

All Stars Return to Fremont Speedway

Wilson Capitalizes on Blaney's Misfortune at Fremont Speedway

FREMONT, OH (5-24-08) by Bryan Autullo - All Star Public Relations Director

The O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions returned to Fremont Speedway to find a packed house, a smooth, racy track, and 41 410 sprint cars looking for a piece of the All Star purse.  Two-time All Star Champion, Greg Wilson, would walk away with the $5000 winner's share in his pocket at the end of the night.  Wilson, who won the previous week at Fremont's regular weekly show, was prepared to get back to victory lane when the money and points were on the line.

"We have been struggling lately. We dug in and worked harder in the shop...my crew has put in a lot of hours and it finally paid off. I also talked a lot with my uncle Hamp (Bob Hampshire, former car owner for Wilson) and he helped us figure some stuff out and get my head screwed on straight," said Wilson in the Engine Pro Victory Lane.

Wilson was critical of the track conditions the previous week, but was sure to make note of the hard work that the new promoters put in this past week to make sure things were better when the All Stars rolled into town.

"Also hats off to Andy James and Rich Farmer (Fremont promoters). I was hard on them last week about the track conditions and they worked their tails off and gave us a fantastic, racy surface tonight. It is so great to win at Fremont in front of these great fans," Wilson added.

Dewease Tops Outlaws at Lowe's Motor Speedway

Concord, NC— May 23, 2008— Lance Dewease has spent 20 years perfecting his craft in Central PA as one of the Posse's finest and has ventured outside of PA state lines from time to time with some success. After winning over 200 races and several track championships in "Posse Country", he took his show on the road in 2008 traveling full time with the O'Reilly All Stars while still running as many races around his home state as he can squeeze in.

Dewease took the opportunity this weekend to travel to Charlotte, NC for the Rite Aid Outlaw Showdown at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway. He made the most of his trip south, as he led all 30 laps of the contest to earn his fifth career Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series A-Feature win earning $12,000 live on SPEED Channel in front of a national audience and a sell-out crowd at the track.

“People say that we can’t win away from Pennsylvania,” he noted. “We race a lot there, and this is really the first year that we have done a lot of traveling. We are going to do a ton of traveling this year and we're running full time with the All Stars this year. I am looking forward to the rest of this year."

26th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek Preview

CAMARGO, IL (5-21-08) by Bryan Autullo – All Star PR Director

The 26th Annual UNOH Ohio Sprint Speedweek is just around the corner and the All Stars are geared up to make it exciting once again. Always a week to look forward to every summer, this year proves to be no different as a $10,000 point fund is in place to be distributed at the end of the week to some of the most talented sprint car drivers in the country. In addition, the Ohio Speedweek promoters have once again offered a $50,000 bonus to any driver who can win 4 of the 7 scheduled events. Dale Blaney came close to capturing the bonus money in 2007, coming up just short on the final night. Will there be a $50,000 winner in 2008?

Drivers are required to pre-register to be eligible for the Speedweek point fund and the bonus money. The forms are available on the All Star web site and the Ohio Speedweek web site. In addition to the possible bonus money being paid, there is over $197,000 up for grabs in scheduled purse money alone. Ohio Sprint Speedweek is one of the richest weeks of racing in the United States and has attracted many of the top names of the sport from across the country and as far away as Australia year after year, making it a must see event for any sprint car fan. All Stars Return to The Track That Action Built Fremont Speedway
ImageCAMARGO, IL (5-20-08) – The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions is preparing to make a return to Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio this Saturday, May 24th.  Many of the drivers on the All Star tour got their start on the 1/3 mile clay oval located inside the Sandusky County Fairgrounds in Northwest Ohio.  All Star legends Frankie Kerr, Rick Ferkel, Al Liskai, and Jim Linder called Fremont home over the years.  Four time All Star champion Chad Kemenah got his start at Fremont Speedway as well.  Current defending two time All Star Champion Greg Wilson, two time All Star Champion Dale Blaney, Brock Mayes, and Brandon Martin have been turning laps at Fremont for several years with great success.

All Star drivers such as Randy Hannagan, Brian Ellenberger, Paul McMahan, and Brian Paulus have visited Fremont on several occasions over the years and always look forward to taking on the weekly regulars to battle for the $5000 winner's share of the purse.  Tough Ohio locals such as Mike Linder, John Ivy, Paul Weaver, Byron Reed, and Mark Keegan can give any traveling series fits when they invade Fremont and they will try to steal the All Star loot this weekend.  Reed nearly took home the All Star win when the series visited Attica Raceway Park in April, but an o-ring in the fuel line cost him a shot at victory.  Lance Dewease, who won the Attica event, will make his first visit to the tight bullring as he rolls into town with the season points lead in his back pocket.

Beckley and Tyler County Postponed

CAMARGO, IL (5-14-08) by Bryan Autullo - All Star PR Director

Events scheduled for this weekend at Beckley Speedway and Tyler County Speedway in West Virginia have been postponed due to both tracks making a financial decision to move the dates to later in the season.  Both tracks have been suffering from a sluggish economy this early season, and both promoters decided they could not bear the financial risk at this time.  The O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions wish to apologize to drivers and fans for this late notice in the postponement of both events, but word was not received until late last weekend that the Tyler County event was also being moved.  No rescheduled dates have been set as of yet.

The All Stars will resume action on May 24th at Fremont Speedway which is now under new management.  The All Stars look forward to making a return visit to the historic speedway in Northern Ohio which will be a homecoming for several drivers who got their start racing there on a weekly basis.  For more info on that event visit www.fremontohspeedway.com.  Also, be on the lookout for several All Star teams to make an appearance at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC on May 23rd to join the World of Outlaws for that televised event.

6th Annual Bob Weikert Memorial: Port Royal Speedway

"The Jet" Takes Off and Wins Bob Weikert Memorial Event

PORT ROYAL, PA (5-10-08) by Bryan Autullo - All Star PR Director

After heavy rains washed out the O’Reilly All Star’s travel plans to Central PA on Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway, the series moved on to Port Royal Speedway to take on the tough as nails PA Posse in their own back yard. The Posse and their rabid fans filled the speedway to see their local heroes fend off the invaders. With 32 cars on hand, 10 of which were traveling O’Reilly All Star regulars, the field was stacked with talent adding to the already exciting Central PA brand of winged 410 racing action.

The track was fast when the All Stars lined up for qualifying with Paul McMahan setting the Kistler Engines quick time for the 6th Annual Bob Weikert Memorial event. The invading All Stars showed their teeth in heat race action as 7 of the 10 travelers transferred into the A-main event. Rookie Lee Stark was running in position to transfer when he got sideways in turn two and kissed the inside fence.

The 6-lap O’Reilly All Star Dash win went to last year’s Bob Weikert Memorial winner, Greg Hodnett. Hodnett is always tough in All Star competition and is always a favorite to win at Port Royal Speedway. He led the way in the Dash with Dale Blaney in tow. Lance Dewease, Paul McMahan, Greg Wilson, and Brandon Martin rounded out the finishing order.

The All Star “Pick 6” redraw on the front stretch with six young fans drawing for the driver’s starting spots put Keith Kauffman on the pole next to Jeff Shepard. Row two would see Mark Smith line up inside of Dale Blaney. Row three put Paul McMahan inside of Todd Shaffer. With Dewease, Hodnett, and Wilson in rows four and five the front of the field was stacked and it was anybody’s race, however everyone knew "The Jet" was going to have the car to beat.
