UNOH All Stars make second visit to PA Posse land |
 CAMARGO, IL (5-30-12) By Brian Liskai – The drivers of the University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Cars Series want only one thing when they travel to Central Pennsylvania in two weeks – to defeat the tough Pennsylvania Posse. The UNOH All Stars will travel to the historic Williams Grove Speedway on Friday, June 8, then to Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, June 9 and wrap up their Eastern swing on Sunday, June 10 at Utica Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y.
It kicks off a busy June for the UNOH All Stars, who then have the grueling 30th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedway June 22-30, which features nine consecutive nights of racing across the Buckeye State.
The three races June 8-10 are part of the UNOH All Stars’ Eastern Region points that will reward the season-ending champion $20,000. Daryn Pittman, who opened the series’ season with a win at Screven Motor Speedway, leads the Eastern Region points over three time All Star champion Dale Blaney with All Star regulars David Gravel and three time and defending series champion Tim Shaffer third and fourth while Greg Hodnett, who scored an All Star win in April at Port Royal Speedway, is fifth.
Blaney is coming off a sweep of a double-header UNOH All Star weekend at Fremont Speedway in Ohio. He has four series wins in 2012 and leads the National and Ohio region points for the All Stars. Blaney now has 88 career All Star wins, second only to Kenny Jacobs’ 98 series wins.
After his latest wins at Fremont, Blaney’s focus turned to the Pennsylvania/New York UNOH All Star swing.
"I’m looking forward to our next trip to Central Pennsylvania. I think we’ve got a car good enough to go win out there at Williams Grove and Lincoln. I just have to go out there and do it. I’ve never won a race at either place…I just have to go get it done," said a determined Blaney.
The UNOH All Star drivers have never defeated the Posse at Williams Grove in 25 tries. That’s 25-0 in favor of the Pennsylvania Posse. In late April, Logan Schuchart, grandson of hall of fame driver and 1980 All Star champion Bobby Allen, scored his first ever Williams Grove win and first series win. So far in 2012 at Williams Grove, point leader Greg Hodnett has two wins with Fred Rahmer scoring a pair, one of which was against the World of Outlaws. Other Williams Grove winners have been Lance Dewease, Chad Layton, Alan Krimes and Danny Dietrich. Steve Kinser won a World of Outlaws event at the track.
Hodnett leads the track's points over Rahmer, Dietrich, Dewease, Daryn Pittman, Chad Layton, Schuchart, Brian Montieth, Krimes and Aaron Ott.
At Lincoln Speedway, Dietrich has 3 wins at the Abbottstown, Pa. track – including a World of Outlaws triumph - to lead the point standings. Last season when the UNOH All Stars came calling, Dietrich scored the biggest win of his career up to that point. Alan Krimes sits second with Brent Marks (1 win in 2012), Cory Haas (2 wins in 2012), Kevin Nouse, Jim Siegel, Brian Montieth (3 wins), Bill Dietrich (1 win in 2012), Nick Schlauch Jr. and Adam Wilt (1 win in 2012) rounding out the top 10 in the track’s points. Brian Leppo also has a win at the track in 2012.
Rahmer has more wins at Lincoln than anyone in the track’s history with 166. Dewease has 36 wins, Montieth, 28, and Hodnett 25 among the top winners at the track.
When the UNOH All Stars invade the Utica Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y., it will mark the first visit since July 2010 when Rahmer and two time All Star champion Greg Wilson traded the lead throughout the 30-lap event, with Rahmer coming out on top.
Besides the top three UNOH All Star points drivers of Blaney, Shaffer and Gravel, look for the likes of Pennsylvania natives and series contenders Pete Miller III of Port Vue and Danny Holtgraver of Pittsburgh, Cap Henry, Sam Hafertepe Jr., Paul McMahan and more.

About 400 drivers participate in All Star races yearly in front of an average of 5,000 spectators per event. Ohio Sprint Speedweek proves to be one of the most competitive weeks in racing during the 2010 All Star season. Tough battles happened in the 2010 Ohio Sprint Speedweek season, as it included nine straight nights of racing action in the buckeye state, it challenged the best of the best, but young David Gravel- DDR Motorsports was crowned the 2010 champion.
