UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions open 2012 season "down south"
CAMARGO, IL (11-19-11) By Brian Liskai– The UNOH All Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Car Series will open their 2012 season with good ol’ “Southern Hospitality” in February when they visit Georgia and Florida.

The UNOH All Stars will kick things off when they visit Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia, on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10 and 11. The series then heads to Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 15 and 16, and end up at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-25.

The seven races in the South will pay a combined $35,000 to win and will be part of the All Star’s Eastern Region points battle in addition to points being handed out for the National title.

Pennsylvania Posse member Lance Dewease claimed the series’ first Eastern Region championship in 2011. He will have his hands full with the likes of three-time and defending All Star champion Tim Shaffer, who also won the Ohio and Great Plains region titles in 2011, and three time series champion Dale Blaney. Throw in the young guns like Danny Holtgraver, Pete Miller, Cap Henry, David Gravel and more and the possibility of several World of Outlaw teams competing during these events and you have a recipe for exciting winter racing.

“We’re very excited about the 2012 southern races. There’s plenty of racing for the folks from up north to see this year in Georgia and Florida. We are working with these stable tracks and promoters and look forward to our talented drivers putting on a tremendous show,” said Guy Webb of All Star Championship Racing.

Screven’s Second Annual Winter Freeze will take place Feb. 9-11 with the UNOH All Stars in competition with a pair of $5,000-to-win events on Feb. 10 and 11.

Screven will also be open Feb. 6-8 for testing sessions. Screven owner, Redd Griffin, will prepare the track daily and make it available for $50 per team to have additional testing sessions prior to the Winter Freeze event. Thursday, Feb. 9 will feature a full regular practice session as well in preparation for Friday and Saturday's Winter Freeze event.

Fans attending the Winter Freeze will have access to all venues at the track including pit access to all tracks for one small price. In addition, fans will get the chance to compete in the second annual go-kart challenge with some of the drivers on hand for the event. Plus, the track will host autograph sessions, meet and greets and more for fans in attendance.

Once again the UNOH All Stars will be a part of the 41st Annual DIRTcar Nationals presented by UNOH. “America’s Series” will kick off the tradition on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 15 and 16, with each night paying $5,000 to win.

The UNOH All Stars will wrap up their “Southern Swing” with three big nights of racing at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Feb. 23-25. The features the first two nights of action will pay $4,000 to win with the finale on Feb. 25 paying $7,000.
