All Star Circuit of Champions Announce 2011 Winternationals |
 Camargo, IL - (10-26-10) Although the curtain has barely closed on the 2010 season, plans are already underway for 2011 tour for the drivers of the O'Reilly Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions. The 2011 season for the traveling series will kick off in the month of February with a trip to the warm southeastern part of the United States for another All Star Circuit of Champions Winter Nationals.
For the first time in the history of the series, the drivers will take to the three-eighth mile Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga. Tim Shaffer, of Aliquippa, Pa., will kick of his title defense at the red clay oval, which normally features full-fender racing from February to November. The first event of the 2011 southern swing is scheduled for Thursday night February 3rd. The feature on this night pays $10,000 to the winner. Then the All Star Circuit of Champions will return to Ocala Speedway in Ocala, Fl, on Feb. 4 and 5. It will mark the third straight year the All Stars will race at the three-eighths mile oval, which kicks off the 28th All Star Winternationals in the Sunshine State.
Who could forget last year’s exciting battle at Ocala! On the last lap, Cale Conley and Brad Sweet were battling for the win with Blaney, Shaffer and Danny “The Dude” Lasoski in tow. But, going into turn three on the final lap, Sweet made his move going high to try and pass Conley. However, the pair made contact, sending both tumbling and bringing out the red flag. During the green-white-checkered finish, Lasoski was able to hold off Shaffer and Blaney for the win with Pennsylvania Posse member Fred Rahmer fourth and California driver Tim Kaeding rounding out the top five.
Two years ago, Shaffer and Terry McCarl picked up the All Star wins at Ocala.
The unique D-shaped 3/8th mile track produces some exciting racing with its sweeping turns 1 and 2 leading to an almost continuous turn down the backstretch to a tight turns 3 and 4 and a very long, fast straightaway. This will mark the track’s 59th year of racing, making it the oldest track in the State of Florida. Friday night’s feature will pay $3,000 to win and Saturday night is a $5,000 to win race.

After a brief pause the drivers of the All Star Circuit of Champions return to action for their yearly stop at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fl., as part of the 40th Annual DIRTcar Nationals. On Wednesday night action heats up with a $4,000 to win event and then one night later on February 10 the Sprint Car feature will pay $5,000.

The question on everyone’s mind will be can Tim Shaffer, who has scored the last two straight All Star series titles, continue his phenomenal run from 2010 which saw him win 16 All star features and sprint car racing’s biggest event, the Knoxville Nationals. Or, will two-time series champion Greg Wilson make a challenge? Can Connecticut hot shoe David Gravel and 2010 All Star Rookie of the Year Cap Henry lead a “young gun” challenge for the title? The All Stars are one of the premier sprint car sanctioning bodies in the USA. Ohio Sprint Speedweek proves to be one of the most competitive weeks in racing during the 2010 All Star season. Tough battles happened in the 2010 Ohio Sprint Speedweek season, as it included nine straight nights of racing action in the buckeye state, it challenged the best of the best, but young David Gravel- DDR Motorsports was crowned the 2010 champion.
