All Stars To Honor Champions At Eldora

CAMARGO, IL (12-4-08) by Bryan Autullo – All Star PR Director

ImageIn a return to tradition, Eldora Speedway owner Tony Stewart has announced that the annual awards banquet for the famed speed plant will return to a Saturday night. He has chosen January 5, 2008 as the night to honor Eldora’s 2007 divisional champions and their courts.

To be held inside the Eldora Ballroom, on the grounds of the speedway, the doors will swing open at 5:00 with the meal serving to begin at 6:15, followed by the awards presentations. Closing out the festive evening will be a DJ and dancing.

Of the three Eldora champions to be honored, only Scott Orr (Modified) is a returnee, as he will be making his fourth appearance as champion. Jeff Babcock (Advance Auto Parts Stocks) and Jeep VanWormer (Late Model) will be accepting their first-ever accolades, to join a rich history of Eldora honorees.

In addition to the trophy and point awards to the top 15 drivers in each of the three divisions, specialty awards, to be handed out personally by Stewart, will include Most Improved Driver, Hard Luck Award and Best Appearing Car & Crew. Completing the list will be the speedway’s most honored award, Sportsman of the Year.

The busy night has become even busier, as the stage will be shared with the Sunoco American Late Model Series (ALMS) and O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions as they honor their 2007 champions and courts as well. This highly unusual format was introduced last year with great success, and its popularity prompted a return of the 3-in-1 format for this year.

Tickets for the banquet will remain at last year’s price of $23.00 per person, and all seating is assigned; thus those wishing to sit within a group are encouraged to buy their tickets together. Tickets go on sale December 10 and may be obtained by calling the track office at (937) 338-3815 during normal business hours. Tickets will not be sold at the door and the deadline for purchase is January 2, 2008.
