After all, it was owned by legendary promoter Earl Baltes, before being bought by Tony Stewart who is a legend in the making, and it is home to some legendary events. The track simply known as “The Big E” will be hosting what promises to be legendary race as the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions will be lighting up the half-mile ton Saturday, May 30.
The last time the All Stars made their way to Eldora Speedway it was for the conclusion of 2008 Ohio Speedweek and it was All Star veteran Dale Blaney who stood in Victory Lane. “The Big E” is a staple on the All Star Circuit of Champions schedule as it has hosted at least one race a year since 1981. Current All Star point leader Tim Shaffer has a single win in a 410 sprint car at Eldora. 2008 All Star Champion has a solid record in All Star competition at Eldora scoring 4 wins in and 21 top-fives in his 48 A-main starts. Sprint car veteran Danny Smith also has 4 wins at Eldora with 21 top-five finishes as well. Two time All Star Champ Greg Wilson only has a few wins at the legendary half-mile, but it is with a 360 engine. The young pilots of the All Star series also have had success at the track. 2008 Rookie of the Year Ryan Myers has a single top-ten finish at Eldora in 360 sprint competition. While 2009 Rookie of the Year competitor Daron Clayton has a duo of top-five finishes in 410-non wing racing. Current rookie points leader Ryan Bunton will be making his first start at Eldora. Brandon Wimmer also has one top-five finish with the All Star series. Who will reign supreme this weekend, the legendary veterans or hungry young guns? Join the All Stars as they take on “The Big E.” On Saturday night May 30th hot laps will begin at 6:00 pm with race action taking center stage at 7:30 pm. Tickets for the event begin at $18 for ages 16 and up, $8 for ages 12-15, $4 for ages 7-11, and ages 6 and under are free.
