Tyler Walker Scores Big at Hilltop with OReilly All Star Circuit of Champions
LogoCAMARGO, IL (09-01-08 ) by Robert Cortum - O'Reilly All Star Public Relations

For one last time in 2008, the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions visited the high banks of Hilltop Speedway.  As the checkered flag flew, Tyler Walker was crowned once again an All Star victor.  Walker, driving the Kasey Kahne Motorsports #91 on a testing basis, made good on the opportunity by parking his sprinter in victory lane, and then doing his traditional victory backflip.

Walker would shoot out to the early lead in the 30 lap affair from his pole position.  At times, Walker would have as much as a 3/4 straightaway lead over the competition.  The feature event wasn’t easy for Walker though as the cars were slowed for a total of 4 caution flags allowing Lee Jacobs to get to him several times.

By the final caution, which flew on lap 21, Jacobs had found a preferred line on the very racy surface to give Walker a hard battle as the laps wound down.  Walker and Jacobs would do battle one last time on the final lap including a slide job by Jacobs that was quickly countered by Walker through turns 1 and 2.  Turn 3 found Tim Shaffer sitting in 3rd place and could have been the catbird’s seat as the 2 front runners got together racing hard for the final turn.  At the flag it was Walker, Jacobs, and Shaffer.

Before the night’s events Tyler stated, “I am just having a blast being back racing sprint cars.  I thought I wanted to get into NASCAR, but didn’t have the same passion as I have running sprints.”  Walker added, “I am back and I am here to stay, this is what I love doing.”

The season point’s battle continues on for Dale Blaney and Lance Dewease.  Blaney’s margin will grow after a top 5 finish on the night.  Lance Dewease found himself in trouble midway through the event bringing out one of the nights yellow flags, but still finished well in the 13th position.

The night’s fast qualifier was hometown hero, Rob Chaney.  Heat Races were won by Brandon Martin (Heat 1), Lance Dewease (Heat 2), and Brian Ellenberger (Heat 3).  The Dash event was won by Tim Shaffer.  Blake Feese would win the night’s B-Main.

The Series will be back in Ohio this upcoming weekend as they travel to another favorite facility on the schedule, Fremont.
