Dewease Wins Battle at the Battlegrounds
CAMARGO, IL (08-24-08 ) by Robert Cortum - O'Reilly All Star Public Relations

If someone was to script a series of races leading up to the final night of the point’s battle, tonight’s race at the Butler Battlegrounds would have been the inspiration.  The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions took to the famed facility for the first time in more than 2 years, and they put on an electrifying show for the fans.

Lance Dewease in the Catoctin #30c was the first driver to reach the checkered flag, but points nemesis Dale Blaney in the George Fisher owned/wrenched #2 followed him up in 2^nd .  At the initial green flag in the single caution affair, Blaney would jump out to the early lead with Dewease in tow.  Dewease would take the advantage over Blaney within the first 7 circuits.

Blaney did not give in though and stuck to his “Lowrider” groove and worked his way up and passed Dewease once more.  The two continued to do battle with Blaney out front until Blaney attempted a block move near the high side that pushed his sprinter over the cushion allowing Dewease to take charge and to round out the event.

The nights event saw the first and second place drivers in the points battle change the lead 3 times.  Lee Jacobs, who has taken over the driving responsibilities in the #59 car came home 3^rd .  Completing the top 5 would be Danny Smith in the #18 and Blake Feese in the #7k.

The night’s dash event went to Tim Shaffer in the Call Motorsports #83a.  Following Shaffer to the flag were Blaney, Jacobs, Feese, Dewease, and Smith.  The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions dash event are for members only and gives the drivers one last look at the track before the feature and ever valuable series points.

The night’s B-Main was taken in control by Rookie of the Year candidate Ryan Meyers.  Meyers would make the transfer and bring with him 5 others out of the B-Main into the A-Main.  Those drivers following Meyers’ charge into the show were; Chad Goff in the #9 car, Shelby Bilton in the #27, Bob Thomes in the #97, Ryan Kirkenball in the #27k, and Ken Quimby in the #9q.

Heat Race #1 saw the most passing of all of the heat races.  Chad Blonde picked up the win in the first affair while Randy Hannagan and Dewease would charge forward for the top 3.  Heat Race #2 belonged to local driver Jeff Rankin in the 40z.  Greg Wilson in the #w20 and Brian Ellenberger in the #20e would complete the podium.  Brandon Martin in the #11m made good on his pole position in the 3^rd event.  Following Martin to the flag were Brock Mayes in the #11b and Jeremy Campbell in the #0.

Setting the pace in qualifying was Lance Dewease with a 13.173.  Dewease was the only driver under the 13.200 barrier.  Danny Smith was second quick with a 13.224 while Blake Feese would wind up 3^rd quick with his best time of 13.241.

The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions are looking forward to a tough Labor Day Weekend schedule.  The series will kick off the weekend at Lernerville Speedway on Friday, August 29^th .  The boys will be Ohio bound for the next 2 nights as they visit Attica Raceway Park on Saturday the 30^th of August and finish off the weekend on Sunday at Hilltop Speedway.
