Shaffer Tames the High Banks

Tim Shaffer Tames the High Banks at Belleville Speedway

CAMARGO, IL (07-31-08 ) by Robert Cortum - O'Reilly All Star Public Relations

A capacity crowd was on hand at the famed Belleville High Banks as Tim Shaffer driving the Call Motorsports #83 led all 30 laps to pick up his 2^nd O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions victory, Thursday, July 31^st .  Shaffer took top honors in the event that kicks off the 2008 edition of the Thunder Through the Plains, where “America’s Series" will see action on 4 of the toughest tracks in the Midwest.

Victory lane did not come easy for “The Steel City Outlaw.”  The entire 30 laps, Danny Lasoski was working every angle he could to try and get by him for the $5,000 top prize.  Both veterans started on the front row with Shaffer drawing the Ace and “The Dude” taking the Deuce in the redraw.  Rounding out the top 5, Lance Dewease would pad his points lead by taking home 3^rd , Greg Wilson brought home 4^th , and Don Droud, Jr completing the top 5.

Shaffer would lead the way earlier in the evening in the Member Only Dash event.  The top 6 O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions members from qualifying participated in the event with Shaffer showing the way.

In Heat Race action, Mike Chadd would take the first of three in his Carpetland #4 machine.  Brian Ellenberger brought his CarMate sponsored #20E across the stripe first in the second affair.  Brad Greer, the 2007 O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series Rookie of the Year throttled his family owned #3B to a victory.

The evening’s events got off to a fast start as Dale Blaney in the George Fisher owned/wrenched #2 car would set fast time with a blazing 14.520.  Nearly half the cars in the field eclipsed the 15 second mark.

The Series continues its 2008 Thunder Through the Plains on August 1^st at Mayetta, Kansas’ Thunderhill Speedway.  Thunderhill is yet another facility known for it’s high banks and wild action.  Friday’s events are slated to begin with the pit gates opening up at 4:00 pm.
