OReilly All Star Circuit of Champions Commemorate 2008 Season

Camargo, IL (1-26-09) by Kelly Brown – Public Relations Director – On Saturday night the stars were out at Eldora Speedway. Make that, the drivers of the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions were out to celebrate the 2008 season in style in the Eldora Ballroom.

2008 All Star series Champion Dale Blaney was awarded a check for $50,000.00 for his accomplishments in his George Fisher owned racing machine. The 2008 points battle came down to a one race shoot out for Dale Blaney and Lance Dewease. During that final race Blaney knew he had to go out and win and he did just that, collecting his 68th career victory and third All Star Circuit of Champions title as a result. Blaney had a dominant season recording 23 top ten finishes, 19 top five finishes and nine victories. The last time Blaney won a championship in 1995, he followed it up with another in 1996. Blaney will get a chance to do the same in 2009 as he is returning to the series to compete for a fourth title.

“First off I would like to thank Guy Webb for allowing me to run with the All Stars,” expressed Blaney. “Second I need to thank George Fisher for giving me the opportunity to drive for him. This is the realization of a season long goal. It is great to win my third championship. This season was a very consistent one for me in probably the best car I have ever driven.”

“We had a great year,” stated winning team owner George Fisher. “A lot of good people helped make this possible and I want to thank everyone for their support.”

Blaney came on strong late in the season to overturn Lance DeWease’s early season stronghold on the top position. DeWease finished in the runner-up slot, followed by Randy Hannagan, Greg Wilson and Brian Ellenberger. Those five were joined by Brandon Martin, Ryan Myers, Lee Stark, Brock Mayes and Tim Shaffer as the top ten in the cumulative points.

Ryan Myers took home the Rookie-of-the-Year title with seventh in the overall point standings. Jack Hewitt was awarded Mechanic of the Year title for his work on Lee Stark’s number 19 sprint car.

“It was a wonderful celebration for a remarkable season of racing,” stated Guy Webb All Star Series President. “Everyone worked well together. I could not have asked for a better staff or group of drivers. We are looking forward to the start of the 2009 season and another year that will see the same successful growth that we saw this past season.”

With the 2009 season just a few days away the scene is set for another successful season with fifty-one races scheduled at over thirty tracks.
