Wilson Tunes Up Down Under
CAMARGO, IL (1-22-08) by Bryan Autullo - All Star PR Director

O’Reilly All Star Champion Greg Wilson flew across the big pond to get a little tune up down under before the 2008 All Star season kicks off in Florida on February 1st. Greg has been piloting the #36 Pacific Materials & Handling, Sennebogen sponsored sprint car over the past week in Australia.

He recently ran at Avalon (Geelong), on Saturday night where he won both heat races and finished 4th in the A-main. Then on Wednesday Jan. 23rd he will compete at Avalon again in the President's Cup. From there he will travel to Borderline Speedway (Mt Gambier) on Friday to participate in the King’s Challenge.

ImageSaturday will take him to Premier Speedway for the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic (Australia's version of the Knoxville Nationals). In excess of 50 drivers will be on hand to attempt to dethrone the only driver to have won the Classic in the past three years, Sydney’s Kerry Madsen.

Over $100,000 will be distributed across the Saturday and Sunday night event while a whopping $71,300 will be paid out on the Classic final alone. Wilson will try to get his hands on the Aussie gold before returning to the United States to defend his 2007 All Star title.

All Stars Head to Florida with New Sponsors and Rules

CAMARGO, IL (1-14-08) – by Bryan Autullo

The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions would like to welcome Jake's Lift Kits & Custom Golf Cart Parts from McVeytown, PA who will be supplying the All Stars with golf carts for the 2008 season and beyond. In addition, they are putting up $100 in bonus money to the Fast Qualifier during each All Star event at Volusia Speedway Park this year. Visit www.jakescarts.com for more information on their products.

Also joining the All Stars for 2008 is Rubbn'Repair. Rubbn'Repair is a formable adhesive patch that mends holes and damage to bumpers, fenders, body panels, hoods and more. When heated, the material becomes flexible and moldable to any repair surface. As it cools, it becomes rigid again and retains the new shape. Rubbn’Repair will also be sponsoring the Midwest All Star Series for 2008. Visit their web site at www.rubbnrepair.com

The All Stars have made changes to the rule book this off season and all teams coming to compete in Florida are encouraged to read it thoroughly. In addition to several changes regarding the mechanics of the race car itself, procedural changes have been made to increase fan participation. Starting in 2008, the All Stars will bring six fans out onto the front stretch with the six drivers who will line up in the first three rows of the main event to draw the Top 6 starting positions. Also, the addition of one-way radios and changes to the qualifying procedure (when more than 40 cars are signed in) are an effort to reduce the length of the show and give the fans a more pleasant experience.

Drivers should note that mufflers are not required at either North Florida Speedway or at Volusia Speedway. Also, for the Florida races only, the new Hoosier SC compound will not be allowed. The Hoosier SC12, 15, and/or 25 will be required for these races based on the 2007 rules. If you have any questions, please contact Butch Sherwin with the All Stars. For the current All Star rules, go to www.allstarsprint.com and visit the Rules section.

The All Stars will kick off the 2008 racing season at North Florida Speedway in Lake City, FL on February 1st and 2nd, and then continue their trek through Florida by moving over to Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL on February 5th, 6th, and 7th. McMahan Teams Up With The Ohio Traveler For 2008 All Star Season
Paul McMahan and Rick Ferkel have joined forces to compete for the All Star Championship for the 2008 season. “Rick called me on Thursday to ask if I would be interested in driving his # 0 car for the All Star points chase for 2008. I have spoken with many different owners and crew chiefs about driving for them next season and had yet to find exactly what I was looking for, until Rick called. Rick wants to race and have fun, while also giving me the equipment I need to be competitive. After coming off of the last race at Charlotte with all the bad luck I had, I am more than ready to race and have fun and make a living while doing it. Rick and I have always gotten along real well, and my wife and I are looking forward to a wonderful racing relationship with Rick and Cathy.

The #0 Sprint car is owned by Sprint Car Hall of Famer, Rick Ferkel, sponsored by:
Shorty's Variety Recycling out of Findlay, OH.
Griff's Engines out of Sandusky, OH.
Zeis Development LTD. out of Tiffin, OH.
