Haulmark All Star Sprint Results Lernerville Speedway Fri. 6/24/05 By Scott Hall SARVER, PA It took exactly 11 minutes for Canada’s Ryan Coniam to win his first career All Star feature Friday night at Lernerville Speedway in a non-stop 35 lap event. The $5,000 to win main was sponsored by Purvis Brothers/Turbo Blue and Coniam’s Bancon Racing crew, led by Shane Wisbon, put together a new car this week and it paid off handsomely for the former All Star Rookie-of-the-year. “Hat’s off to Shane and Travis, they built a new race car today, I just can’t thank these guys enough and all the other people that support me. Finally things are starting to click for us,” Coniam said. “We were good on the bottom of the track. It was a good night all around. I told Shane after hot laps that this was an easy race car to drive.” For the start it was Brent Covell and Danny Smith leading the field to the green, with Smith pulling out to the initial lead over Ed Lynch Jr. and third starting Coniam’s Eagle/Kriner. By lap five Coniam began challenging Lynch, and ducked under him for second on lap seven. Smith entered lapped traffic on lap nine, allowing Coniam to chip away at Smith’s big lead. Coniam began edging closer each lap and by lap 16 he was within four car lengths of the lead. The next circuit he was only two car lengths behind Smith, and then they were nose to tail. Smith got boxed in for an instant by a lapped car, and Coniam rode the middle groove around Smith into the lead on lap 19. Smith was now second with Jeremy Campbell third and fourth was a battle between Kenny Jacobs and 15th starter Rod George. George got around Jacobs on lap 25 for fourth and it was now a three way battle for second behind Coniam. Campbell got past Smith, leaving George and Smith to battle for third. As the laps wound down, Coniam worked the bottom groove through lapped traffic as Campbell ran out of laps to make a challenge and finished second. George got past Smith for third with three laps remaining and ended up in that spot. Smith finished fourth with Jacobs fifth ahead of 11th starter Chad Kemenah. Dean Jacobs, Randy Hannagan, Lynch and Brock Mayes completed the top ten. “We just tried to keep the car straight and not let it get out from under you,” runnerup Campbell related. “Josh Forshee had it hooked up good tonight. We just kept cruising.” The Crown Battery heat fell to Kemenah, the B&B Products heat went to Rod George, the Engler Machine and Tool heat was won by Randy Hannagan and the TP Wings heat fell to Ed Lynch, Jr. Cody Geldart won the University of Northwestern Ohio B Main and Danny Smith captured the Haulmark Dash.
