Blaney Wins the Battle; Hannagan Wins the War |
|

ROSSBURG, OH (6-28-08) by Bryan Autullo – All Star PR Director The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions finally got a break from Mother Nature on the Ohio Speedweek finale at Tony Stewart;s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH. For the first time this week – there was sunshine! There were 36 cars who made the tow to the monster ½ mile in Western Ohio, some of which had not seen a lap here in a very long time. Western PA star Ed Lynch Jr. set the Kistler Engines quick time for the evening. Lynch picked up the Speedweek finale win in 2007 and returned to try to repeat that feat over a very stellar All Star field. Heat races were won by Greg Wilson, Lance Dewease, Kenny Jacobs, and Butch Schroeder. Dale Blaney took the checkers in the O’Reilly All Star Dash. With the Eldora track crew doing a phenomenal job in prepping the track surface despite a week of constant rain passing over the Buckeye State, the dust was down, the speeds were up, and the racing was as exciting as I have ever seen at The Big E. B-main action was as intense as any racing that has taken place all week long. Brian Ellenberger diced it out with Aussie Troy Little until Jeremy Campbell made his way to second place in the Rick Ferkel #0. Paul may finished 3rd as Mike Dussel edged out Little on the final lap to transfer to the A-main. |

Ohio Speedweek Points - The Battles Begin |
|
CAMARGO, IL (6-28-08) by Bryan Autullo - All Star PR Director As we head into the final night of Ohio Speedweek at Eldora Speedway, Randy Hannagan leads by 8 points over Dale Blaney for the Speedweek Championship. Both drivers have had lots of success on the high banks of Eldora and should mother nature allow, we'll see a battle to the end for the 2008 Speedweek trophy. With the success of Hannagan and Blaney during this past week, both have crept up on Season Championship points leader Lance Dewease, who now leads by only 80 points over Hannagan and 104 points over Blaney. Both drivers are within striking distance of unseating the Central PA legend as we head out of Speedweek and into the bulk of the mid-summer racing. Don't count out Greg Wilson who is back 206 points. He has historically made a strong charge after Speedweek through the end of the season, so we could potentially have a 4-way battle for the $50,000 Championship. Ohio Speedweek points are listed below . OHIO SPEEDWEEK POINTS:
| 1 | 1x | Randy Hannagan | 298 | | 2 | 2 | Dale Blaney | 290 | | 3 | 5 | Byron Reed | 284 | | 4 | 45 | Tim Shaffer | 283 | | 5 | w20 | Greg Wilson | 274 | | 6 | 11b | Brock Mayes | 273 | | 7 | 4 | Danny Smith | 263 | | 8 | 20e | Brian Ellenberger | 261 | | 9 | 11m | Brandon Martin | 260 | | 10 | 30c | Lance Dewease | 257 | Click READ MORE below for complete points list. |

Super Dave! Hometown Hero Harrison Nets First All Star Victory |
|
FREMONT, Ohio - (6-26-08) by Brian Liskai David Harrison had to not only defeat 51 O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champion Sprint drivers, but Mother Nature as well at Fremont Speedway Thursday night. The Burgoon, Ohio driver led all 40 laps under threatening skies to score his first All Star win during the third leg of the University of Northwest Ohio Sprint Speedweek on Budweiser Night.
The night began with over a two hour rain delay. Fremont Speedway and All Star officials pushed the show along as thunderstorms were continued to threaten the area, even making adjustments to the order of events to ensure the big crowd got their money's worth.
Harrison, the night's second quick qualifier, started to the outside of the front row and jumped into the lead at the drop of the green. He benefitted from yellow flags when he was mired in heavy lapped traffic, and picked his way through the backmarkers with precision skill to hold off Randy Hannagan for second win of the season at "The Track That Action Built."
"Bill, Jamie and the crew had the car perfect. I could drive it around he entire track and pick my spots in traffic," said Harrison beside his Crown Battery, MCS Trucking, Genzman Racing, Blaster Racing #10.
"I want to dedicate this win to my father-in-law, Alex Burkett who we lost a couple of weeks ago. To get my first All Star win in front of my home crowd and during Speedweek...it just doesn't get any better than this," continued Harrison from the Engine Pro Victory Lane.

Weathering the Storm! The Hurricane and Rain Couldn’t Derail Blaney’s Train |
STEWART, OH (6-25-08) by Bryan Autullo – All Star PR Director
The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions made their first appearance of 2008 at Billy Jarrell’s Skyline Speedway in Stewart, OH to complete the second full night of racing during the UNOH Ohio Sprint Speedweek. The weather forecast produced more threats of rain which seems to be an ugly theme this week. A 20 minute delay during the B-main was easy to endure after the multi-day rain outs early in the week.
There were 52 cars on hand to compete for the All Star loot with $5000 on the line and a shot at a $50,000 bonus. Randy “The Hurricane” Hannagan won the Hilltop event and looked to have a legitimate shot at making it two in a row as the All Star “Pick 6” redraw put him on the front row once again – this time with Jimmy Nier to his outside. Brian Ellenberger and Dale Blaney made up row two and Todd Kane sat next to Aussie Ian Louden in row three.
At the green flag, Nier jumped to a quick lead, but Hannagan stayed on him with Blaney making things interesting in third. The caution flew on lap 3, and on the restart Nier held off the 1x for as long as he could, but by lap 8 Hannagan got past Nier to take the lead. Blaney got around Nier and set his sites on Hannagan, finally making the charge to the lead on lap 18 as Brian Smith moved into third.
At the mid-point of the 40 lapper, Blaney paced the field with Hannagan, Brian Smith, Craig Mintz and Nier in tow. As Blaney weaved through lapped traffic, Hannagan kept him in his sites as Brian Smith battled Mintz for third. Mintz finally took the spot away with 10 laps to go and set sail to challenge Hannagan for second. Danny Smith and Greg Wilson made their way into the Top 5 as Blaney cruised to victory on the wide and racy track. Hannagan finished second ahead of Mintz, B. Smith, and Wilson. |
